Get To Know Me

The Bluebell Therapy Center is named for the Virginia Bluebell. A first sign of Spring, Bluebells mean that the cold, dark winter is ending and brighter, lighter days are ahead.

Whether you are dealing with anxiety, grief, unmet expectations, or the challenges of parenthood, you have a story. Telling your story in a safe accepting environment is the first step towards feeling better.

Together we can identify the problem and work towards building your supports and strengths.

Dana Seltzer, LCSW, LICSW, PMH-C

Founder, Bluebell Therapy Center

When I was a kid, my favorite story was Miss Rumphius. In the story, a little girl is taught to always make the world a more beautiful place. She grows older and spreads lupine seeds all along the coast of Maine where she lives.

I've carried the story of Miss Rumphius with me throughout my life—first as a Girl Scout, and then as a Social Worker. I believe that caring for people and developing relationships makes our world more beautiful and compassionate.

You deserve to feel better, and I want to help you on that journey.

My Experience

I graduated from James Madison University and then attended the University of Pennsylvania for graduate school. I interned in a variety of settings, but felt most at home in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

After graduation, I began working first in the Neurology/Orthopedics Unit at Children’s National Hospital, and soon transitioned to their PICU.

I worked with families at their most vulnerable. Their children were sick, injured, and scared. Parents and families felt helpless. I worked with them in their moments of crisis and trauma, and over time helped them to identify and develop strengths.

But when they left the hospital, I always wondered what happened next. How did they cope? Did they have appropriate resources in place? Would they be able to access mental health supports if they needed help?

From there, I knew that my place was in private practice. I wanted to work with people who were choosing to come to therapy and working to make sense of the world and their place in it.

Through telling our stories and building relationships, we can make the world a more beautiful place for ourselves, our children, and our fellow humans.

I can’t wait to help you.
